Front rest speed screw

Is this gizmo used much for the ASSRA BR matches? Does it help improve groups and scores? Or is it a solution looking for a problem? Sinclair sells them for close to $100.

Thanks!

I made my own for my Bald Eagle rest.
I made the screw for all three feet and not just the back.
I also made longer screws so I could shoot on uphill ranges like Tommy Mason's Stars & Stripes Schuetzen range.

I was the International Schuetzen Benchrest Champion on two occassions.

I only adjusted the speed screws on initial setup.
I had a perch belly rear stock and pushed my rifle forward or backwards to adjust for elevation changes.
It was easier and quicker to do instead of changing my benchrest position to adjust the rear screw.
Maintaining your benchrest position is more important and I try not to shift my benchrest postion to even adjust a screw.
With the perch belly stock I could move it slightly forward with a bump from my shoulder or pull back gently on the wrist of the stock where my left hand resided.

The larger screw heads made adjustments easier and their weight helped stablize the rest.
I also had my rest made with cast iron instead of aluminum.

What is more important for accuracy is a windage top and a stable front rest and maintaining your benchrest position.

The Sinclair Speed Screw is a "screw within a screw."  The body threads into the rear hole in the rest and does not move once installed. The inner screw then allows for fine elevation adjustments. I have them on three Hart pedestals.  They work as advertised and are convenient.  They do not guarantee better scores or groups.

I’ve used the Sinclair for several years, wouldn’t be without one. Ledball
