Reducing my Unertl spotter herd, have 4. This one is best for bench spotting & the one I rarely use. Optics clear and mechanicals, quick pull then fine turn adjust, work perfect.

Two issues, first the the Occular lens cap. It screws onto a fine thread machined insert. Set into the scoped cast body. Thread is good but the insert turns a bit when it’s tightened down. don’t know it’s fastened inside. Lock ring or pressed. My other Unertls don’t turn. Does not affect the use and cap screws on as it should other than turning as it tightens last half thread. 

Finish were the hose clamp mount rubbed . I kept the finish issue covered by a Drink cozzie. This should be done on any straight body vintage.

You also need the type of mount shown. It’s not  for sale but fairly easy to find off EBay or new from the good shooters supply houses. 

People often ask me why I use the vintage spotters. I like 
period equipment and a 24x63 Unterl spots as good or better than any new scope it’s size. Not as good as a big Kowa much better than most Asian made. At 200 yards it’s  idea.
