	Which is the best route to take when making cases for a .50-70? Use. 348 Winchester brass or 32 gauge hulls? Most likely I'll be using smokeless bp equivalent loads but may go to the dark side with real bp once in a while. Thanks

	There are videos on u-tube about how to convert the .32 hulls to 50-70. Just remember the .32 are larger than the 50-70 so you need to create tooling to shrink the hulls and a good lathe will be a big help. Also be very careful about your loads as the hulls are folded head and thin as newsprint.

	Considering the cost of the 32 ga shells which I think someone said was $4 each, and the necessary tooling; I'd just wait until they become available again. Or, you can get them off GunBroker for $6 or so which is still probably cheaper than setting up tooling to make them. I'm sure glad I got all my 50-70 brass 20 years or more back. I hope I never need to get more. George

	I bought .50-70 brass from Starline just last fall and it was in stock. Never knew there was a shortage until now?

	I sold some to a guy here a few days ago cause I didn't really need them. Maybe I should have kept them? Oh well you help folks out if you can. JMH

JMH I sold about 20 of mine (cut down) to the guy who bought the Model 1867 Navy Rolling Block pistol I sold. I don't own a .50-70, but kept the other 30 new cases just in case I ever got one again.

	Not sure if you want to mess with this but Johansen has them for about $2.20 per case in packages of 50. (You need to *Login* or *Register* to view media files and links)

	If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.

	Or do as I did for my no.2 Musket and get some once-fired 470 NE brass, or 500/465 - there actually is a lot of brass that can serve as basic brass for 50-70.

The important thing is they're Starline.

	Brass and bullets are no issue. Much cheaper if you can find a US military contact that is stationed in Germany, they can send it via the APO for 1/4 to 1/3 the German postal rate.

	The Bertrum Brass USA website states that due to circumstances beyond , they will not saw what? their control they are no longer importing brass into the USA and when current stocks are sold out website will be closed. Either the Australian government or the USA will not allow import or export? Anyone in OZ know?
