	is there any interest in pope style prime deprime tool was thinking about making small run of them

	szot I think there is definitely a market for someone who would make a run of about 20 of those re-decapping tools. You could offer them for sale on this website and if you are really interested, I suggest you post your intent to make them on this site and ask for input of what features to include on your tool design. My first suggestion would be to machine the head to take regular shell holders such as RCBS. The old Jerry Simmons tools also featured a hardened steel primer pocket scraper on the end of each of the handles (one for large rifle primer pockets, one for small). 	make a Pope Meacham Hardware style.They took RCBS shellholders.

	Jerry Cleave is still building excellent tools along this line, and using his uncle Charlie's design as Charlie made the Poole tools. Jerry's have screw on shell holders so they are dedicated to his thread size for shell holders. I have a couple of them, and one is setup to do numerous cartridges by using sleeves to enlarge the decapping rod, and has both small primer, and large primer rods. Beautiful workmanship, and each is serial numbered. They're like fine gun jewelry!

	What Marlinguy says about Jerry Cleaves tools is very true. They are well made and really comfortable to use. You won't go wrong with his tools.

	As long as Jake Simmons was living, he was my “go to” for a re- and decapper, but since he’s gone and a couple of those who came after him are gone as well, it would seem there is room in the market for another small maker. The one improvement I’d like to see over the original Pope style would be the addition of a “head” that takes either standard shell holders or the ones Lee makes for their priming tool. A couple of people (Sinclair, K&M, and perhaps others) make nice tools that prime only, but a re- and de- that does both and has easily changed, readily available shell holders would be nice to have. 	I have probably eight to ten various priming tools in boxes in my reloading room. For years I bought the latest greatest, I was a total sucker. Then paid serious bucks for Sinclair/Brownell. Like many folks do after laying out serious cash you refuse to acknowledge it ain’t that great. Them I ran into Jerry Cleave’s tool and swear it is smoother than any other tool I own. Rick

	I’ve only seen Jerry’s (Cleave) tools a time or two and they are indeed sweet. Jerry (Simmons) didn’t spend as much time making them pretty. In fact, he ribbed me about making a fitted compartment in my range box… he just threw his into an old cigar box, IIRC. Early on I developed the mantra, “If you can’t do well on the target, at least look good on the bench!”
