Anyone play with WW clip on and pure lead to make 20-1 or 25-1?    I have 500#  of WW all melted down and cleaned comes out about 18-1   .  Normally dont want to put this in my better guns breech seating. Like to hear your  comments.Thankyou.

I leave the WW to the pistol shooters.

I used alloys when I started that had antimony and always had leading problems.

Switched to pure lead and tin to make 20:1 alloy and had major improvements in eliminating fouling of my rifles.

When WW comes my way I clean it up and sell it to the pistol shooters wanting hard alloys and use the money to buy pure lead and pure tin.

18:1.  Do you mean the Hardness of 18:1?
This as is will not breech seat easily.
I would suggest start with   25 lead plus 1 COWW

Remember, the COWW is approximately 4% or so of Antimony.
AND almost No tin.
So, to make the alloy cast well, add 1% tin added to the
25lead plus 1 COWW

And, note that CLEANED COWW will not harm your rifles.

I have used my alloy of 9+1  COWW/Lino for many years
and have had no problem with leading, as long as the
bullet diameter is 0.001 over groove diameter and use a good
lube. This applies to my Schuetzen rifles(not breechseated) and also BPCR rifles
velocities up to at least 1700fps.
For breechseating my 25-20, I do use 20+1 lead/tin.

Spaced out guys...hardness same as 18-1. I think it best to sell it off and stay with pure lead and tin.  Appreciate guys.Pete
