Stevens 44 Small Metal Buttplate

Bought my first 44 and even though I've seen pictures I had no idea how small the Buttplate was.  Even in .22 r.f. I can't see how it's not going to hurt. Any ideas?   David

Assuming a right handed shooter:

Do not tuck it into your shoulder like it was a trap gun.

Instead, raise your right arm so that your elbow is parallel to your shoulder.  The buttplate tucks around your deltoid, with the top of the buttplate just over the top the muscle and it won't hurt a bit.

What's worse is the small Stevens #2 Swiss buttplate,which will interchange with the #1 buttplate.

Mounted like Smoke advised, light recoil cartridge, you won’t notice it at all.
