This one is .22 rim fire.  they really don't come along very often so despite not being budget friendly....

Won't ask what you paid for it. Lol... Gosh I wish someone would make those style rifles again. You know one that was good quality you could afford. It would certainly be a nich market. Guess that is why they aren't being made. Great find and if you decide to shoot it let us know how it goes.

A #7 is still on my bucket list, but seems no matter how much I save one never shows up when my gun fund is hopefully high enough.

Dave at lone star made a few #7's and he told me that they took just as much time to make as a #1 so cost just as much. How many did he make not many from what I remenber him telling me it would be under 5 one of his costomers that wanted him to do them helped $$ with the molds.

Shoot it and enjoy it. I use standard ammo in mine. Still shots better than I can.

Dave's FFL records indicate he made three.
There was one subtle difference in his other than the serial numbers.  He had a mold made for the receiver that incorporated the sight base for the tang sight so he could make up the tang sights from spare parts off other early Lyman #1s.  George at Treebone has the stock pattern he used.  The only thing missing there is the distinctive little grip cap and the buttplate.

I agree with the use of standard ammo.  I use the Remington subsonic in mine and they shoot well.

As for Marlin Guy, you definitely have caught the disease for which there is no cure....unfortunately I can identify with that syndrome.

This thread talks about a reproduction buttplate that is nearly identical to the original.  

It also demonstrates how to make the fluted grip cap.
