That is pretty bad for sure.
Here is the one I just got. It has a few dark spots that might be dry oil. There were some metal chips but they clean out when I ran a patch through. I cant even see any of the reamer marks in the bore is so smooth.
I think when I run a few patched bullets through that it will clean out just fine.

Val,
That's a good way to satisfy an "itch", without actually having to do anything immediately.... I like. Smiley LOL

Wow Jack, that does look nasty.  Apparently it doesn't hurt the way it shoots.  Mine looks really good until you get 5" from the muzzle and then there is a weird looking spot.  It almost looks the same as a wrinkled bullet nose when the mould hasn't filled out.

Chris.

I shot with Jerry DeVaudruil for years, his favorite expression was "don't tell the gun"

Last Tuesday, that barrel put my first record shot into the center of the 24 ring at 12 o'clock after hitting the 25 ring on the sighter 3 times.  The next 8 shots were in the 25 ring and I was holding just outside at 7 o'clock as they were impacting around 2 o'clock.  Shot number 10 went low into the center of the 24 ring at 6 o'clock.  By that time all the noise evidently woke up the Stars and Stripes range demons as everyone were beginning to utter random expletives.

I stopped blaming the barrel for my poor shots long ago.
