The any sight bench was VERY close.  Yours truly lost out!

Sue said that Joe beat me for third by about .02".  She got first by the same amount.

Wayne would have done better but lost his highest shot on one target and lost his two highest shots on the other target because he shot 11 and 12 shots.

Darn you get a bit forgetful when you are older.

Wayne might have been going with my suggestion that we go to best 10 out of 12 scoring.  I did very well at the last 600 yard Tacoma match with 9 10s and 3 nines.  Offhand should be best 10 out of 20 on paper.  Group matches should be best 4 of 5 or 8 of 10.   Just sayin’

The present scoring system functions well and does not need altered. The present scoring system allows comparison with scores shot across the nation. We all understand there are days of low crosswind and great lighting encouraging greater scores. There are also days of varying crosswinds and changing cloud densities hampering greater scores.

A half-century ago when the High-Power scoring system went from the 5(V) to the 10(X) scoring rings, many peope were dismayed. "How will we ever be able to shoot a perfect score?" was the cry. Today the High-Power increased equipment capability and greater shooter ability creates perfect scores.

With the present shortages of powder and primers, the equipment listings give the shooter possible powders and primers to explore when their treasured hoardings run out.

Note: The challenge is shooting against yourself and improving. This is part of my cure. I am shooting against myself from my scores before cancer. When they told me in August, 2016 that I had 90-120 days to live, one of my goals was to set another National Record. (If you don't have a dream, how can you have a dream come true?)

Just kidding Bud.  I did learn from Sue how they handle ties and how the last target is the one used for tie breakers.  Wayne had more centers on his second target and mine had a shot furthest out.  I may change my strategy on which order I shoot them.

Sue Miller had a Ruger built for her in 32-40 by Jay Sullivan and instantly began shooting better scores.  This year she was the one to beat.  Gary decided to sit out the final day and concentrate on running the match.  I asked why he wasn’t shooting and he said he didn’t want to finish behind his wife …. again
