Recognize This Scope?

On an early Stevens 44, in what I think are early Stevens mounts.  Want to nail it down for my 44 database.

Phil

Nice gun.  I'd be all over it if I were still buying.

No ideas, but pretty darn neat scope and mounts. I might bid on it just to get the scope, and then resell the rifle.

That idea crossed my mind, too.  My .22 Harwood Model 108 has the dovetails, but scope is long gone.  But I won't bid - I'm training myself out of the impulse-buy habit. Well, trying anyway.

It's a Winchester scope that was offered on their Model 75 22 rimfire rifle. I'm not sure who actually made the scope for Winchester.

Weren't the Winchester scopes just stamped 8X? The seller says it's a 4X scope although that doesn't mean it actually is a 4X. Who made the mounts?

On pages 137 and 140 of Tom Rowe's Stevens books Volume One, I'm sure I see that rear mount.

I checked Rowe's sight book and didn't see anything like those mounts. Some close, but not close enough to be the same. Either the uprights were different, or more rounded on top; or the markings were much better than the one at GB.
I also checked my small scope collection last night and determined it's a Win. 8x too. I sent the link to a good friend whose a very advanced scope collector and he confirmed it's an 8x, but said the mounts weren't anything he'd ever seen either.
Since I have a nice 8x I wont go after this just to own the mounts.

I have one of the 8X scopes. I sent it to a man in Florida for cleaning and new reticle. Mounts aren't that great but useable.

I've got 2 Win 8x scopes and when I research them,I was said that they were made fpr Win by Carolyn. Carolyn made their own rifle scope and it was not similar to the Win. I think (don't hold me to it) that Carolyn also made surveyor transits?

You can use those scopes or any 3/4 scope w/o a rail by using a Mossberg, Wallensak or Marlin front mount.

One of my 8x has the original mounts (much wider than std mounts) and one has Mossberg mounts on it, that can be used on std mounts.
