3-Groove barrels?
Apr 15th, 2024 at 9:06am

I recently ran across a link for a guy recutting barrels (JES Rifle Reboring). From his website it looks like 3-groove is his standard but also offers 4 and 5. The few reviews I have seen are all very positive. Anyone here have experience with his rebores?

Since he's a local guy I know several friends who've used his services and are all happy. His only issue is he doesn't do very small bores. Used to be .35 and larger, but not sure what minimum size is lately?

Yes he rebored Remington 1 1/2 rolling block for me. It was a rusted out .32rf and I had him rebore it to .44-40 with the 3 groove rifling and it shoots great. Jesse is great to deal with on the phone and does quality work at a reasonable price quickly. I would send him another project without any hesitation.

He did a 94 Win. in 32 Spl to 38-55 for me. Quick turn around and it shot rather well. Would do it again.

I've had JES do four rebores,  .38-55, .357 mag, and .32-20. I don't know if he'll do .32-20 any more, call and ask. I've been happy with his work. Turn around time is very fast, mostly around two weeks.

When I shot CBA postals and plinked, service rifles, could not see Any difference 4 grove vs 3 grove 1903 Springfields. However ASSRA matches much higher standards. Don’t think I would go for a rebore of any kind bench rest scope sights 200 matches.

Restore a fun shooter would not hesitate & JES has a good reputation. 30/30 to 38/55 a useful conversion.
