Could someone show a photo of a base designed to accept a bare Sheard gold bead blade? How would they attach?  Where would I find a base?

Sheard front sights came in the pin-on type you show for things like '03 rifles. They also were available in conventional versions that slipped into a dovetail like most other designs always have. I have a sheard that came on a high wall along with an old Marble's peep sight. I over thirty five years it has been there for me, and who can say the first guy installed it? I also have another on a Savage 99 rifle.
I like it a good bit and would be pleased to find one on some other piece I might pick up- tho' my eyes more dictate the use of 'scopes nowadays.  Cry

Did they slip
In a dovetail base and then were pinned?  I've never seen one.

They were very popular among revolver shooters of the day... I’ve seen them discussed more often on the S&W Forum than here, to the point I had to read this thread to jog my memory.
Now that my memory has been jogged, I can see in my mind’s eye how well it would work with an aperture type rear sight.  I must admit though that I’ve never actually seen a Sheard type blade on a dovetail type mount.

vol717 -- the sight blade you show if for a Colt target (possibly S&W)  revolver. Depending on your skill with a file, you may be able to fit that to a base missing the blade.
