Quality Cartridge

I have a quantity of 8x48R inbound and when I gets here I plan to anneal it (just for fun). I am curious is it typically required for QC brass. It has been my experience with Starline that you should always anneal before the first use.

I am curious about 8,15x47R, how often do people anneal the brass? I think the 8x48R will be very similar.

Rule of thumb (for me anyway) is if in doubt, anneal. It can't hurt and can only help. The only new brass I don't bother giving an initial annealing to is Lapua. And yes, I also annealed the 40 new pieces of Quality Cartridge .32-40 I was gifted recently (that stuff is too valuable to ignore any protocols that might help preserve it).

Ballards may be weaker,

I've got lots of Hornady brass that I've never annealed in .405 and 9.3x74R. I've had horrible results with Bertram being brittle and it always needs annealing. Have some RMC lathe turned brass and I anneal it just because it's lathe turned.

I have collected a lot of Sellier und Bellot casings (7x57, 9x57 and 308) over the years since most Germans throw it in the bin at the range. That stuff is really hard so I always anneal it.

Case will tell you if and when it needs to be annealed when it’s sized. It just feels different when too hard

Quality Cartridge is a great source for hard to find.  I recently bought all 400 of the Jameson 44-77 brass.  Not cheap but they do have some out of production brass.

I recently bought 100 .351 WSL cases from Quality.  Do I need to anneal them?

A few years back, I bought a bunch of 8.15x46R from them. I've loaded those several times, but never thought to anneal them.  Bertram, anneal first thing.
