It has a mint bore and all numbers match. To my knowledge it is a model 45 with the optional DST and "H" sight set. The only non-grey gun in the place. Unfortunately I trimmed the few 25-25 brass to 25-21 for another 44 years ago. I am a happy camper.

Very nice, especially for being over 120 years old.

Wow - what a find!  Quite a bit nicer than my .25-25 model 44.  It ought to be a fine shooter. I really enjoy shooting mine.

Ballards may be weaker,

A very beautiful rifle!

I also have a DST, 44/45 that was 32/40 but, not even close to yours in condition.

What a delight to see a 44 in that condition & with a DST. Enjoy!

Here are my best two Stevens. The 441/2 with the Fecker is in .22 LR while the 44 is in .25/20 SS.

Charles provided me with its' s/n.   Best guess is 1898.  So over 120 years old and still looks like new.

What's even more amazing is that the rifle still has the original sights.

I finally noticed a flaw - the little thumbnuts for the windage adjustment on the tang sight are missing.   I only notice because I got the same sight on my most recent rifle purchase, and had to make them.

Yes, I noticed it before I bought it. Any advice on how to make new ones especially the thread?  The threaded rod for windage are untouched and straight. And, yes,  I could use a couple of brass to start for breech seating and will need to figure out what to do for fixed ammo because it begs to be used respectfully.

What I am surprised at is a half dozen single shot guys got to it before me and wrote it off as just a 44 and that the dealer typically doesn't Dicker. Their loss.

Thank you for the kind words,
Charles

Charles,
I have a couple 25/25 brass that I will send you if you don't already have any. In return, keep us posted on progress. What a beauty!
