The tight bore Amoskeag High Wall - first outing

I was able to finally shoot the HW from Andy Zornachy's estate after having it rechambered to 32-40. The caliber was marked .32 x 1.6 on the barrel and in a conversation with Andy's brother, Richard Zorin he confirmed that it was a failed experiment 18 years ago while they were experimenting with short cases.  The barrel is marked under the forearm: Douglas xx 12 twist .3191 groove 12.1.96.  On top of the barrel is Paul Shuttleworth's name so maybe this barrel was once his.
The small groove diameter limited what bullets I could seat, but my main natch bullet, the Hoch spitzer of Darr design that I got from CPA likes this barrel.  The other one that is showing promise is the 'Schnozola' a long nose Hoch 321-210.  After taking a couple of shots to sight in at 200 yards in the fog that came and went all morning, I shot the first group of 8 shots.  I played a bit with powder charges and then tried the Schnozola.  I changed seaters and shot the final group.  I think this rifle has earned a set trigger!

I was pleasantly surprised at how well it shot right off the bat. I was worried about the small bore.  I tried seating your NOE design but no go.  I have already cast over 600 of the 3 groove Darr Hoch spitzer to get ready for next years match season. That bullet works well in all but one 32-40 barrel.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and Elaine
