I put A piece of foam rubber in the RCBS hammer. Tap a little easier and you wont wreck the lead bullet......

This project is as much an art as a science. There are several successful ways in the answers above.

If saving the cast bullets is the desire, I use the following steps:
1.) Using the RCBS Impact Hammer on a small anvil, I pull the bullet half-way out. (This takes practice to gauge the needed force.)
2.) I use the correct shell-holder for the caliber.
3.) Switching to the collet bullet puller, I then pull the bullet the remaining distance].
4.) Dumping the powder into a specific clean labeled container.

This is a slow procedure, but worth the results. I have powder uncontaminated by the lubricant.

Once it starts coming Jack you have to go soft...then pull the bullet out from case.
OR.....Read the seven page instruction manual !

Interesting. My old RCBS kenetic puller has a pad in the bottom that catches bullets and keeps from damaging them. It was this way decades ago when I bought it new.

Just pulled several .45 cal BPCR bullets with my inertia puller.  Rubber pad in the bottom protected the 20:1 bullets & the fiber wad kept the powder in the case.  Worked like a charm.

I quit whacking the inertia bullet puller on stuff years ago.  Now I just put an air palm nailer in the vise with the hammer facing upwards, and press the inertia bullet puller against the palm nailer.  Brrrrrpppp…. Done.  No whacking.
