If your bullets are actually throat/groove diameter then harder alloys will work. If marginally under, the bullet needs to be soft enough to upset and fully fill the rifling. Hard, undersized bullets cause leading.

I habitually use the largest bullets that will fit in a fired case.   In one (very successful) instance, the bullet was nearly 0.030" (sic) larger than groove diameter.

sounds like my Swiss 7.5 Martini !

I too use the largest bullet that will chamber as a general rule.
