Weber Seater Question
Oct 22nd, 2023 at 1:43pm
Print Post
I have a Weber seater in 25 Hornet for a high wall and would like to explore re-working it into a more popular caliber with the idea of selling it.  My question is whether all of Russ' seaters had a push rod with a 3/16" tail end and a .150 head end or was this just on the smaller calibers?  It makes removing the rod a bit harder as it needs to be withdrawn from the rear since the hold is smaller at the head end in the seater body.  The case threads are also 1/4-28.  If I remember correctly, the last one I had used a larger diameter case thread.

Thanks in advance.

If you’re thinking of selling I could use it as is.

Let me know.

I have a 25-20 Win low wall that I have been shooting at Spokane. Now I have Bob’s 25 Hornet High wall built by Ron Smith.  Once the new high wall forend is done, a shootout will be in order.  I can breech seat the low wall without a wad but need one with the Hornet.  The low wall is a 10 twist and the Hornet is a gain twist I believe.  I can use the same bullet so it will be an interesting test. The winner gets an all expense paid trip to the Stars and Stripes Schuetzen Park.

BTW,

My question as to the shaft diameter was answered.  The larger calibers evidently use a 3/6" shaft and a 5/16" treaded case vs the smaller diameter calibers which have the front of the shaft smaller and use a 1/4-28 threaded case.
