I have seen sights attached in many different ways but that is a new one for me too.

I'd say both the front and rear sights were made by someone with an imaginative sense of design based on the "as long as it works" principle, and who was a pretty good metal craftsman to boot.

I’ve seen this type of sight on English muzzleloader, it probably makes it easier to wipe the bore.  Ledball

Mal's bench setup. The Martini is a .30/.222 with a 10X fecker.
I'll let Mal explain further.

And a couple more of the Cental sight adapted with a tang mount. This sight was originally developed for use on the SMLE .303 full bore rifles & Omark .308 range rifles here in Oz.

I recognise that martini, it’s the one mal let my daughter shoot at the gong shoot, she came 6th, it was first time she’d ever shot the schutzen gong, upset a few of the "older" members.

YesGrumpy,
She shot it with aperture sights not with the Fecker, 33 gns of Wano P behind a 150 gn Bugg bullet 20/1 breach seated, the calibre is a 30/222 which was originally shot as a jacketed round 155 or 168 gn doing about 2000fps,My friend David Engelhardt built it for the German Ring Match shot @ Hahndorf RC.
In1974 preceded the.30 blackout by many yrs. Cheers Mal.

The Gong shoot Grumpy refers to is the original cast iron target used for the German Ring Match, we believe it was an OZ exclusive style target developed in the Adelaide hills by a local Blacksmith,I have done a little research and found no other target made from cast iron, it is about 4’ across and has 12 scoring rings, the bull is a 2” hole inside which resides a knob, when struck trips a mechanical devise and raises a metal indicator to signal a bullseye!!(13) ,a scorer in a bunker close by would reset the system when safe to do so.He also scored the hits on the target, then repainted it with white wash. I have a photo somewhere of the target, will get Spud to post if I can find it. Cheers Mal in au.
