32 Win Special

Just chambered an 1885 in 32 Win Spec. I have a 165 gr Lyman plain base mould and I am looking for some direction on load data. At this stage I will not be breach seating.

Loads based on IMR/Hogdon powders are relatively straightforward to extrapolate to the available ADI Australian powders out here in the Antipodes.

Any direction appreciated.

15-16 grains of IMR 4227 should get you good results with a plain base bullet.

A 32 Spec, with a seated bullet, will have nearly the same case capacity as a 32/40, breach seated. But, you can't use to much of that neck, as with using 200 gr bullets, with PB. 180 - 185gr bullets would be max doing as I recommend.

4227 is a good powder for it. I would suggest 14.0 as a PB accurate load.

my first schuetzen was a Ruger #1 32 WS
I used the 319289 and 13- 14g of 4227 (fixed ammo)
I agree with frnkeore load

Should have added my bullets were cast at Lyman’s #2 formula. Also the loads were for the deep groove Winchester 94’s.
