I NEVER use gasoline, but 87 Octane parts cleaner works well.

I waited until the thread sort of ran its course to pipe up with a question in the same vein.

I have a couple bricks of the old Federal OM-1 Ultra Match on which the lube is dried and flaky. Not wishing to relegate this wonderful ammo to plinking/practice status I've been pondering ways for re-lubing it. I did try re-lubing a handful by wiping off old lube and dunking the bullets in a molten pan of JSL but no matter the technique I ended up with seriously heavy coatings. Shooting them was a fun mess and accuracy was sketchy. I'm now wondering if thinning a batch of JSL to a watery molten consistency for dipping purposes has merit, or if there's another lube or approach that would be more satisfactory. Any thoughts to prevent my re-inventing the wheel would be appreciated!

A Smallbore shooting friend suggested spinning .22 LR between your thumb & forefinger. The warmth from your hand will warm & redistribute the lube.
