Two days ago I saw it was listed as "Backorder" so I thought what the hay and ordered 1,000. It arrived today. The reason I was looking is I needed 50-70 which I ordered 500 but we will have to see if that ever arrives.

The Star line brass is always hard in my experience. I use Star-Line in 50-70 and 50-90 and have good results AFTER I have annealed it. In 45-70 I prefer Remington.

If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.

So, does that indicate Starline anneals early in the manufacturing process, or even not at all? Comments?

I have twenty firings on my starline 50-90  I have yet to anneal. Loads of all Used 4759 At low pressure and they are sealing fine and no sign of neck fatigue.

My experience is Starline is hard. I always anneal any new brass first and then I know what I have. I think annealling every firing can yield better results but a lot of other factors effect this as well. With a AMP annealer it is so easy to anneal.

FEIW, I made a couple of hundred 32/357 (32 Dell) cases from virgin Starline 357 Mag brass, and haven’t annealed any of it yet.  I had to do in in 2 or 3 steps or I got grease dents, but no problem with excess hardness.

If making 45-70 maybe they will go ahead and make 45-2.6.which I have had backordered for more than two years.

Do you use Rockwell, Brinell, or Vickers scale. What tool to test the brass hardness?
