It's a stalking rifle and in 8.15x46R, and for lead bullets. According to the markings.

Or, if a .30-30 drops into the chamber, perhaps .32 Win Spl?

A popular, if misplaced, way to get ammo for it in the US, back in the day...

Post the photos on GGCA forum. I have 2 Schuetzen rifles that were  rechambered, one in 32 Winchester Special the other in 303. The 303 shoots very well the other not so much.

Mike, how would you determine if that rifle was rechambered from those photos? As you know, those are the original German markings.

Who on the GGCA forum would know?

Axel might know the system, a chamber cast would be the way to determine the rechamber.

Chambering brass casings for those calibers is the best way to know.

Not sure about all the system variations on Stalking rifles. I shoot these 2 (8.15x46R). I have never yet encountered a rechambered example.

Moody
I have a similar stalking rifle which isn't exactly the same as yours but maybe a cousin.
I don't know the name of the action type but would second posting a photo on the GGCA forum.
I'd be interested in whether your rifle action has any or all of the following features, that are on my action
Hand detachable inner action frame?
Rotating breechblock on closure like the Stevens?
Substantial inner frame that looks a little like the ballard but heavier?
Thanks,
Otto

Close, but no cigar. I have had this rifle for 30 or so years, never fired it. Proofed in 1906. I have heard it refered to as System Nimrod, but I don't think that is correct.
