I have come across a listing for one of these rifles but I cannot find a drawing of the action to know how it works. Does anyone have a sketch of the action?

If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.

There is a drawing in Alte Scheibenwaffen, don’t remember which volume. If you don’t buy it, let me know, I might be interested.
I can take a photo and post it if you would like.

Volume 1 page 372. I don’t want to violate any copyright laws, so I’ll wait to see if Tom Rowe oks reproducing a photo.

This site has some pics of inside the action. These are pistols however.

I've seen these photos, I am looking for something that shows the construction. I have also seen pictures with the action swung open but nothing to show how it locks.

My debate is to buy this or a Mauser Wehrmann's Gewehr for about the same price. The Mauser is a genuine original single shot, not a copy or rebuilt repeater.

I do have a few bolt action rifles, 2 Mannlichers and 2 Mauser sporters, it’s never a choice if a schuetzen rifle is available. I have a few, my favorite is System Concurrenz, I have 2 very plain ones that I shoot when the weather is nice. Cold damp weather is the bane of old bones.

Pictures 7 through 9 on the pistol link should give hints on the lock up.  The square shoulder on the top is probably primary with the back of the block doing the rest as it comes up into battery. A friend had a couple of the non-Mauser 22 bolt action single shots. Pretty slick. I think he was asking $500 for one and $600 for the other.

SwartzStock,
I've always thought that the Mauser Wehrmann's Gewehr rifles were made using a M-98 repeating action, that used an oak magazine trough, to convert it into a single shot.
Were some Wehrmann's Gewehr rifles made with a dedicated single shot action and if so, were these actions of the M-98 style?
Thanks,
Otto

There are many different actions used in German and Austrian schuetzen rifles.  Frank DeHass showed some of the actions.

While a number of Austrian and Italian schuetzens were built on martini actions, for me, the best are falling block followed by swining blocks,

Aydts are swining blocks and strong enough for schuetzen

My Buchel Original Meister (sold) was a drop block action with walls cut down

I have a schuetzen with a drop block action that I plan to sell in the future.  If anyone is interested, send me a PM and I will send you info.

Haenel made a dedicated single shot 8.15x46R on a 98 IIRC.

Cbashooter,
Do you know how the dedicated Haenel action differed from a standard M-98, on their Wehrmann's Gewehr rifles?
