SwartzStock,
I've always thought that the Mauser Wehrmann's Gewehr rifles were made using a M-98 repeating action, that used an oak magazine trough, to convert it into a single shot.
Were some Wehrmann's Gewehr rifles made with a dedicated single shot action and if so, were these actions of the M-98 style?
Thanks,
Otto

All of the original Mauser Wehrmann's Gewehr I have seen were built on single-shot, solid bottom receivers. There were gunsmiths that altered 98 actions for the 8,15x46 and these are the guns you find with the wooden block in the magazine area. A key is the serial number since all civilian production Mausers are in a certain range and are easily documented. The best reference I know of for the Wehrmann's Gewehr is Jon Speed's "Original Oberndorf Mauser Sporting Rifles".

Here is a listing for one I am suspicious of, the seller claims it is original but it has functioning magazine and the rear sight is not original to the rifle. A few other parts are not numbered to the receiver.

If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.
