He was a well known top shooter who lived in and had a sight business in Denver before moving to San Francisco, and opening a very successful business there.  That measure sold for probably more than a years wages in his time. I owned one 40 or so years ago, and sold it for $200 if memory serves.

DW King was a top-tier Schuetzen shooter about 1900+. He held several offhand records - one of the more notable being a 100 shot score of 917 (possible 1000) on the Standard American target at 200 yards.
He also designed several iron sights in addition to his duplex powder measure. As I recall, he lived in the Denver area.

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.

I wonder how the measure works. How it functions?

Lucky dog you are. I wrote a check for another 5K. Angry Just think how I could have helped out the economy by buying another gun instead of donating it to social programs and the Ukraine. Wink

It takes two people who want it badly to get to that price.

Some of the antique loading tool collectors get pretty serious when there's something like this King powder measure at auction! Not like there's enough of them around to let a collector wait for the next one to show up, so if two want it badly the price is going to go nuts. But this ending price is still a big surprise to me. Thought it would go around $1000-$1100 range.
