Lyman Targetspot Scope Recoil Springs

Asked before, but on Lyman Targetspot scopes having recoil springs, for 22LR and 22 Hornet, is it recommended or necessary to back off from the stop?  I often forget it to return it to battery(?).

I back off the sprimg and I do the pull-back on all my external adjust scoped rifles, including22lr. Best to keep in practice for when you may be
shooting larger centerfire rifles with an external adjust scope

Most of the better/more experienced shooters I knew removed the spring etc from Unertl-style scopes. I was taught to pull the scope back AND twist it ccw after each shot, the twist moving the scope a bit on older/worn scopes. This quickly became automatic.

Thank you both.  I guess I better get back into the habit.

When I use them I always back the spring off about 1/16" and return the scope to battery by hand. Sooner or later the spring will let you down.
