question re added piece on a target spot

recently acquired a very nice Lyman super target spot in 30 power. The rear sight has a piece added I have never come across before. It has 2 blades that pivot, one marked 50ys, the other, 100 yd.  hoping someone can help.

Essentially a pair of pivoting shims, to quickly switch from 50 to 100 yards, suggest verify, and they actually work quite well.

Called a "known ranger" Small bore shooters used them at 50 and 100 yards. And as someone mentioned act like shims. Frank
