Put this windgauge sight on my rifle the other day. Has an extra mark on it as you can see. When I sighted in on Saturday it went back to it's old pet mark. Creepy man. Twistin my melon....

That mark is there to account for the slight shift in magnetic north.   It is well documented in the Handbook for Ancient Alien Theorists.

It would appear that it was used in the southern hemisphere to compensate for the coriolis force.

Formula
Fc = -2m (Ω x v)
Fc = coriolis force
m = mass
Ω = angular velocity
v = tangential velocity

Not so fast Bob, the line should be on the other side if used in the southern hemisphere.  Now using your formula, I would say it came from Canada. And it is a sniper sight.

Obviously, it is the auto-adjust model.

Now if you are shooting long distances and shooting North in the northern hemisphere... Cheesy Cheesy
Let that twist your gray matter.

Joe is going to be so confused he will probably just sell the sight and move on.

No it is for Canadian left handed shooters.
Ron Smith will be able to sight perfectly with it even though his left eye is now blind.

In the southern hemisphere, you just stand on the other side of the barrel to make the adjustment - simple as that.

The rifle in question had had a Ron Heilman Soule sight and a traditional fixed globe on it since about 1993 and I had always wanted to equip it with the correct original sights. I finally picked up an original Remington midrange sight and had that Winchester sight squirreled away.

At the range when I noticed the Winchester sight had gone back to its pet setting I immediately thought of Yogi Berra and one of his famous quotes, "it was like deja vu all over again" . So when I got home from the range I looked up Yogi Berra and that sorta creeped me out. Man he really had some huge ears on him!   Shocked

The rear sight fit the rifle and the dent in the stock like it had been there before.
