I make up moose milk for cleaning between shots when using BP, my mixture is soluble cutting oil and water, 1-10 mix.
I have been told it is possible to use Ballistol and water as well.
My soluble oil supply just ran out so I'm considering the Ballistol option. Has anyone on this site using BP tried it ?, and if so what was the mix ?.

I buy my soluable cutting oil from NAPA stores. Do your auto parts stores carry it maybe?

I’ve used cutting oil and balistol both at 15:1 , didn’t notice much difference between the two. I mainly use cutting oil as I by it in 10 litre drums for my machines, lasts me a fair while, though the shop I last bought from has closed now.

Buy it from most tool sharpening shops or machinery suppliers over here

In Canada I purchase Kutsol (water soluble cutting oil) from Busy Bee Machine Tools Ltd.
I mix 10% Kutsol with 90% - 40 Winter Windshield Washer Fluid.
But I suppose you do not need to shoot below freezing in Australia.
Difficult to find Ballistol here.

I use Ballistol and water and like it. Not sure about the mix.

When I was still competing in BPCR Silhouette a lot of us were using 10% Ballistol mixed with distilled water. Worked great for wiping between shots. Temperatures would be from freezing to over a hundred.
I'm not a complete idiot, some of my parts are missing.

Thanks for all the replies, its a 20 min drive to the nearest place that sells soluble oil where I am but my local gun shop is a lot closer so I will try there for the balistol.

I tried my local gun shop for the Balistol but they didn't have any, there is a place at Fyshwick that does so I will go there tomorrow. For all this stuffing around I could probably just use water and a bit of dish washing liquid and that would probably work just as well.

Sydney tools have soluble oil and so do total tools, both in Fyshwick, total tools have a "Holemaker" brand in 500 ml but the others seem to be in 4or5 ltr bottles, if you were closer I could give you some.

I buy soluable oil by the gallon jug, so driving a bit to get it isn't a problem very often.

I think a gallon would last me about 20 years, I'm 81 so I don't think I need a gallon, a litre should just about see me out.

I am 4 years into my 5 litre (1.3 gallons), plus gave some away. Current usage indicates at least 15 - 20 more years
