I just ran across this new listing on GunBroker.  Note that is also comes with the original stock & forearm & other stuff.  Check it out.

nice "vintage" Lee  loading tools with it..
Looks like no lugged hammer and a strange CF to Rimfire deal.

If there is one, the saving grace has to be the original stocks if they fit.

Olongapo Rose

I'm an old sailor, been to Olongapo several times, but this one escapes me.  I've never associated Olongapo and its ladies with a Stevens 44.  Viejo Rum or San Miguel I understand and have partaken, but a Stevens 44?

Will someone please explain?

I had an email exchange with that guy.  The gun is a complete mongrel, but he started out thinking it is worth a fortune.  Then about a week or ten days ago he asked me to make an offer.  I declined. AFAIC collector value is near zero. Receiver started out as a plain 44, has no lug, neither barrel is original, and the "engraving" looks like it was done by a left-handed bear.  The condition of the  breechblock makes me wonder what else may be wrong under all that flummery.  I didn't even bother to log it into my database.

Yeah, I'm grumpy tonight.  Back hurts, knee hurts, and it's that February blahs time of year.
