One thing that I have found to be very useful in many ways, is to find thick walled bicycle inner tubes to fit your mould handles. Most bike shops are willing to save them for you. They help keep heat down, give a good grip, and are easily replaceable. Fitting them to the handle is facilitated by using a little soapy water to help them slide on, and it will evaporate once put to use. Very comfortable for long casting sessions.

I could try tying one around my ample middle.  My back gives out before my hands.  I just keep the session short and cast most every day.  Close to 2000 in the last couple of months.
