Utility knife blades

I have never found a satisfactory way to sharpen a gut hook. I have 3 or 4 folding utility knives, if I get a buck this year, I am going to try these as gut hooks. Has anyone tried them?

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I have a set of those ceramic cross sticks I use to sharpen knife blades. They have a wooden block that situates the sticks at the correct 22.5 degree angle for blades.
I pull one out and use it to sharpen those internal curves of gut hooks, and they work well for me.

I have used them for years on deer and hogs. Just like their hide has a zipper on it.
