I am posting an update on this thread. I took the advice an ordered a .38 caliber Mos mold from CPA. The base band measures .377 and is about .0005 over bore size in my rifle. The bullet weighs about 315 grains. We finally got a break in the weather in this part of the country to allow for an excursion to the range to test this new bullet out.

I tapped over the two sighter shots and was rewarded with not a bad target, in fact I am quite pleased. I got 7 centers, the one at 1:00 in the 23 ring was me, it was the 10th shot in the string. This is something to build on. I was able to find a supply of IMR4759 powder here locally. Too bad they stopped making it. I really like it for this chambering.

Looks much better!  That Mos mold is not too different than the Buffalo Arms one I am using.  The Mos has a more pointy nose though.

Do you have any experience with flyers, Paul?

I also don’t believe in flyers.  I believe in the shooter’s ability to screw up.

Jim, I’ve had many 23’s but no flyers. Flyers let’s the shooter off the hook “it wasn’t my fault”.  Ledball

As to the question of Flyers:

I don't like 'em either, but yes I believe in them, I've seen them with my own eyes, they exist among us. At least in most of my targets they do. Gremlins they are!

On a more serious note, those unwelcome off-shots are generally mistakes of our own. Providing you have good equipment and a good load, more often than not it comes down to the skill managing the rifle, reading conditions, and managing what is going on between the ears when you settle in for the shot.

When I was shooting this target, the one in the 23 ring was my last, I was excited, I'll admit it. At the time as best as i could see it looked like I had 8 Centers with the one in the 24 ring at 2:00, I couldn't clearly see the 24 cutting into the 25 at 6:00, I was hoping it was in. I was hoping to finish with a 249, which would havebeen my personal best. I think I cracked a little under the pressure with a muscle tremor and it threw me off. Oh well, still a nice target.

Yes Brian, I will likely give this one some match time this year.

Bruce

Just another 200 yard score target shot and I also personally do not believe in luck but real hard work.
Don't get me wrong I do believe that flyers do exist but I also believe that they were no other fault than just that of my own.

Hopefully you can read the load data on the bottom of the target and that it might also help you out ? I also hope that you might also be able to enlarge it to be able to read it all.
The only reason I posted it is in hopes that it might help yourself out.
