Looks like Bubba has been busy.  Any thoughts on buying this and making a Proper Ballard out of it?  Thanks, David

Lots of work to behold there. .218 Bee on a cast receiver? No way, what was Bubba thinking?? Gotta look at this as a basis for a low pressure cartridge conversion (.22 rimfire IMO): re-barrel, re-color case harden, wood, etc. Not for the faint of heart, but every Ballard deserves a new lease on life, no?

I'd look at it as parts value. Any clean cast receiver is worth $500 or so complete. Might get $75-$100 for the barrel selling it, but wouldn't want to pay more than $50. The stocks are OK, but not worth more than maybe $75 to most people, so another $50. Scope maybe another $50.
So if it could be purchased for $650 I'd be game to buy it. 
Then figure a good .22 barrel, barrel fitting, new stock set, color case, rust bluing, And if you got the $150 back selling what you didn't use you'd only be in $500, plus the related costs for barrel, stock, and labor. You could be into a nice .22 Ballard shooter for under $1200.
Or just find a complete cast #2 or #3 receiver for around $500-$550 and forget about this gun.
