Dacron (or similar) fillers in 8.15 x 46R?

Hi, all.
Would you share some opinions/experience with using Dacron-or similar (toilet paper?)-as a filler in the German schuetzens? It seems to me that a filler taking up the space between the powder and being compressed some by the inserted bullet base would be easier to be consistent with than trying to get a wad seated .10-.20 inches above the powder in the tapered case (which is the common advice I see). What say ye?

No experience with Schuetzen loads, but I will warn that Dacron over low pressure loads melts, rather than burns, and the result is an unholy mess.  I switched over to kapok before abandoning fillers altogether.   Still have plenty if you want to try it.

Someone will recommend using a thin disk of floral foam, which makes sense to me, although I have never tried it.

I've never found a need for fillers of any kind over powder in the 8.15 or other cases of similar size with smokeless. Fillers bother me, and I have good accuracy without worrying about negative effects of fillers.

The chronograph will tell the tale, and is the best way of determining whether you have uniform ignition, shot-to-shot.  That, after all, is really what you are after.

I always found cards cut from beer cartons to make the handiest wads. Crease them a little, and insert so t hey straighten out under pressure from an appropriate "pusher", which should have a stop at an adjustable place.

I shoot a lot of 8.15x46r, never use wads. After reading C. Dell’s articles on chamber ringing several years ago, I decided not to chance it. I load the charged case with the muzzle pointed up, bump the side of the rifle with my hand, slowly lower it to shooting position and bang away. That being said, I shoot for fun and not looking for the last once of accuracy.

My JP Sauer in 8.15 does fine with a stop ring bullet and no filler or wad. Easy to load using fixed ammo. It’s a stalking rifle so I only fire it offhand. No idea of accuracy off the bench at 200.  At under five pounds and barrel sights, that’s not its game.

I also shoot stop ring, it’s easy and fun.

I'd like to chase the best accuracy I can get. I'll probably do stop rings for offhand, but I can't help being curious about just how well she (and I) can do from the bench. Chris, I have fire formed brass from my .33-47 High Wall. I'm thinking maybe chamfer from the outside on one and from the inside on another to sharpen them and make wad cutters to get two slightly different diameters to try to match the interior diameter of my 8.15 brass -cutting cardboard wads like you suggest to experiment with that .10-.20" distance off the powder. I'm still nervous about them staying in place, though. Did you ever experiment with fillers instead of the wads?

I seem to recall reading that toilet paper is quite popular at the current German events. Anyone know the details of how they utilize it?

Never use Dacron it is the one thing you can do that will increase your chances of ringing a barrel faster than any other. If you feel you need to use a filler use Kapok or a cotton ball teased out.
