I have a 1-lb roll of "silver bearing solder".
I think it has MAYBE 1% - if that - of silver; the  rest is tin.  There should be an industry spec somewhere.

Silver is sometimes added to the solder to enhance it's conductivity (electrical).

At one point, I looked into casting silver bullets, ( ala Lone Ranger) but the melting temp of silver is quite high and folks smarter than myself on the forum didn't think I would be successful.
In another life I worked for Carpenter Technologies in the metal lab and did a lot of hardness testing, but it's been so long I've forgotten just how hard Brinell 15 is.
Would that be like 10% tin?

Way to hard an alloy for 32-40. I have seen them in .45 caliber and did not work in any single shot tried in.

I once attempted to cast silver .45 ACP hardball bullets. In the process of trying to get the mold hot enough to cast an unwrinkled bullet, I warped the mold blocks. There went my dreams of getting rich selling "bullet necklaces" to the Goth/vampire slayer crowd.

I picked up a pile of that LC 32-40 bullet years ago cheap.they shot great in my 32 Special Ruger #1 I had back then.this was fixed ammo running about 1200.IIRC I was getting just over inch at 100 with a 4x Fecker small game scope.I'd say for fixed ammo hard bullets shoot just fine. In my 50-90 Sharps I currently shoot 15-20 bhn bullets successfully.

In some long forgotten book or article on buffalo hunting I read that casters would throw a silver dime into each pot of bullet alloy (for whatever reason I don't remember if I ever knew.)  It seems like this is not a new idea, but I've never seen any scientific evidence that it does any good.   Undecided

I cast up a bunch of bullets for someone who wanted "silver bullets" - but recognized that wouldn't be possible.  SO, I cast them of pure TIN.  Hard, shiny, and didn't tarnish much over time - that met the desires.
