I have a barreled action that was chambered 32 Miller supposedly, but I am not sure. I have tried to find the different in the 32 Miller and the 32 Miller short case length, but no luck. I am going to do a chamber cast, and need to find out the difference in the cases dimensions. Any help would be appreciated.

Not to take any credit; but Dean and I were sitting at a picnic table at Coors the year I shot at the Super Shoot talking and discussed why the 6PPC ruled the Jacketed BR world and he asked me why.  Simple, I said, 101% loading density in a short case.  He then asked what he could do to improve the Miller.  I just suggested shortening the case to improve loading density.  We got around to cutting the case length on paper.  I just said cut 1/4" off the 1.520" oal.  Arbitrary...
Cyle then said, that was a nice idea but Keith Francis charges $350 for a two reamer set.  A bit pricey for an experiment.  My Banshee reamer print had been on the cover of Precision Shooting magazine two months earlier and the owner wanted to pay me.  I refused, and told him I got paid to write the article.  So, he gave me a credlit for the reamer set.  I had that letter in my clip case, took it out, and just handed it to Dean.  With crass monetary issues out of the way, we drew out the dimensions on a legal pad on the table.  Dean offered to build me a rifle.  The next year my wife and and I drove to St Onge to pick up the rifle.  Dean's wife Cherie collected crystal door knobs and the ceramic head dolls, and they had bought the house next door to theirs when the elderly couple next door moved into town.
They used it for a guest house occasionally.  We stayed there that night, and went to Cherie's family's ranch to test.  9gr of Accurate #9 put ten shots into a group that scored a 246.  9.5 scored a 247.  10gr shot a 248 and a 249.  10.5 scored a 245.
Ten grains it would be.

It was a funny thing, Cherie's 30X Super Programmer has been placed on the rifle, and I was amazed that it shot dead center.  After I shot I mentioned that to Dean.  He grinned that big grin of his and told me they had tested the rifle a day before.  If it did not work, they were going to rechamber to the Miller.  He and Cyle took it to the range, and they were kinda stunned to see the scores it shot.

And, that has been the story of the 32 Miller Short case.  It shot so well, it has sort-of been banned.  ASSRA created a second class for what they call cases desiged after 1917.
CPA has cleverly skirted those rules with their 32-20 CPA.
