I have used both plus Dan Wesson .360, but I would stick to either the max or DW360. The heavier web is better in most brass. Starline makes both.

Charlie Dell developed his 32/357 approximately concurrently with the 32 Miller (Short) and both of them were based on the 357 length donor case.  Miller also developed a longer case based on the 357 Maximum, hence the distinction of this cartridge getting the “short” distinction. 

The difference between Miller’s and Dell’s design was that the former had a short necked section while the latter was a just a straight taper from base to mouth.  It is possible to chamber and fire a Dell case in a Miller chamber, but not vice versa.

Anyway, I form my Dell cases from virgin Starline brass by pushing a lightly lubed case about halfway into the form die (using an arbor press) then taking it out, re-lubricating the case, and pushing it all the way in.  Trying to form cases in a single pass left me with lube dents and larger creases. Generally speaking I get several firings before I have to resize my cases.  I have never lost a case due to hardening leading to splitting, and I have never annealed a case, not even for the initial forming.

When Dean made the first cases for me to go with my rifle, he used the RWS 5.6x52R(?) case.  It is  basically the 222 Remington Magnum Rimmed.  The Europeans liked the RWS brass quality.  So did Dean.  He just trimmed it to length, FL sized it, and trimmed again.  I probably fired those cases 50 to sixty times and never lost one.  Gaylord Smith bought the rifle from me, and never said he lost one either.

Please enlighten me on these short Dell/Miller 32s. What diameter bullet do they shoot and what kinds of loads are used in them? Are they high pressure loads or more like a 32-20 with a larger case capacity and a much heavier bullet?
