	Thanks for the data! But those are all loads with higher velocities than I care to shoot. I'm hoping to keep my loads under 1500 fps, and using the Lyman 425 gr. bullet I'm casting. I'll probably stick with my BP loads if they show decent accuracy. Hope to hit the gun range Wed. and see how the loads I've built already perform. I only have one box of 20 cartridges ready, so I'll have to take a couple others along to make the trip worthwhile.

	They seemed a little stout to me as well that I thought I would post them. The 5744 data was the only stuff I thought usable. And it was interesting to see pressure data for the smokeless loads.I keep my 50-90 down to about 1300 with a 550 g bullet and it's not that bad in a 11 pound gun. Somebody here gave me the load and I used 30 g of 5744 or Buffalo rifle.

	And you have to wonder about the differences between the old MP5744 and the current 5744.

I actually have a bit of both and in my 30 grain charge there was no difference of the poi at 200 yd. (only a 16,000 psi load in a strong rifle)Smaller cases probably have to worry about it.

	I ran some loads through my Gordon's ballistic calculator and found the 425 gr. bullet, with 40.0 grs. of H4198 is 1280 fps., and has a whopping 8 ft. lbs. of recoil in my 16 lb. Sharps. But it also advises it's a "low burn rate" and might give "inconsistent velocities" which is their way of telling me deviations between shots. So although it appears safe, and mild, I'm guessing it wont be accurate, and a waste of my time and powder. So I'll keep playing with BP and see how it works out.

	Went to the range today to test fire my loads I made up. I used 75 grs. of Swiss 1 1/2 and a 425 gr. bullet, with 45 grs. of amaranth seed filler over the powder, and a Walters .060" wad. The loads worked very good, and recoil in this heavy rifle was very mild! I shot all 40 rds. I had made up and can't even tell I shot anything today. Even after shooting my Heoburn in .40-65 and my Ballard 4 1/2 A-1 Extra in .40-63 also. The sights were a real issue, and I need to put much better sights on it before another trip to the range. The ladder style Freund rear sight, and rounded narrow blade front sight made for a horrible sight picture, and impossible with my old eyes to be sure about a center or 6 o'clock hold. And the POI was 8"-10" higher than the sight picture, so front blade is too short. The tang isn't D&T for a tang sight, but since this rifle has been restored it wont be hurt by D&T for a good tang sight, and install a decent globe in front. I'll have to do that before wasting anymore range time with the existing sights. But I'm tickled about how mild the reduced loads are, and thanks to Chauncey (oneatatime) for his advice on building up reduced loads for a big thumper.

	My RCBS Supreme press arrived yesterday. It replaces my 40 year old Rockchucker as it's 1" taller opening to make reloading the .50-140 easy. It also has the ability to use the handle left or right handed, and a bit better leverage for forming, or larger cases. What's interesting is I ordered it from Ebay, and it stated it was coming from China, expedited shipping. That concerned me as I didn't think RCBS was made in China? I searched some internet gun forums and the word was RCBS had moved some manufacturing to China, which disappointed me greatly! But when FedEx delivered the new Supreme, the shipping return address was Tennessee, not China? I opened the outer box, and removed the RCBS box. On the box it clearly is marked "Made in USA"! So whoever is spreading the rumor about presses being made in China is wrong. Still made in the good old USA!

I was under the impression if a company does it that way they mark the box "assembled in the USA" not made in the USA?
