Hi Folks,
Am eyeing a Stevens rifle at a local FFL and trying to find a serial number reference that matches what is stamped on the bottom of the action. Seems to be 9209 with the last '9' being covered by a cartouche/Crown of some type. Barrel shows some  work done but have no idea by whom. Overall it is clean and seems to function, chambered in 32-40 which works for me if the gun can handle it.

This is probably the first question you will get and here is how to tell. Is it a 44 or a 44 1/2 action?

If it is a 44 1/2 there is no question that the gun will handle it.
