Forming 22 Lovell R2 brass, least sacrilegious? (Read 573 times)

	I managed to score 50 NIB G&H 22-3000 primed brass, and 50 NIB Winchester 25-20 Single Shot brass. Is either one of these options notably more collectable than the other?

	A lot of variables involved. Either can be formed from the other, so one who has a 25-20 SS would be willing to pay more for the correct headstamp, and same for the owner of a 22-3000 classic varmint rifle. Condition of the brass is also a major factor. Even NEW brass may be very brittle, and need to be annealed before use to extend life. Both are difficult to come by, and bring a premium. I would not part with either. If you must decide, flip a coin!!

	On the collectors market, either box will bring at least $50, probably twice that much or more. Depending on age, some of those NPE primers may be corrosive, or may just be dead. Brittle brass that must be annealed is a very reasonable assumption. Annealing before forming is probably necessary. If I had a classic R2 rifle, I'd want the undisturbed boxes as nostalgia, just to go with the rifle. There must be some Jamison brass available somewhere.

	FYI Jamison brass will require lower max loads than what you find in old books as well as probably need necks turned for a 2R chamber (both because of thicker brass).
