Mold blocks

Something I never even thought about till I had a problem
With a mold. Shouldn’t there be a little play between the fork on the handle and the groove in the mold block. That way pins line up easier? Just got a BACO mold and the groove is very tight
On the handle. Don’t think I’ve seen this before

Thanks Doug

I've run into this a few times and have had to relieve handles so the mold halves could lineup properly.

My advice is relieve the handles and not the molds. Slop can be your friend, just don’t overdo it.

Doug ,
I have a variety of handles.
RCBS
LYman early small ones, recent long ones.
H&G, too.
Different thicknesses of the "forks".
I just did some casting with a recently purchased BACO mold last night.
My RCBS handles at 0.298" thick forks fit nicely with a
little "slop", but not too much.

My other baco molds have groove at .318 this mold is only
.311, so I will stone the forks till I have a little play. Very tight
At this point.

Thanks doug

Do the grinding or whatever on the bottom, lower, side of the handle prongs. If you do the top you could make a situation where the blocks don't come together on the same plane. trust me here...
