Someone came to our last match with these two tools.  None had seen this type before.  Any ideas?  The shaft for the one with the bakelite handle is quite remarkable.

40_Rod: you mentioned Jim Andela, a name I haven't heard mentioned in years.

Back in the late 1980's/early 90's, I purchased a .32-40 mould or two and a similar looking breech seater from Andela Tool & Machine. Moulds were nicely machined. Believe I still have the moulds.

I see the company is still in business and still in Richfield Springs NY.

Don't hear much about Andela tools, and anything he built is pretty rare to see these days. But everything he built was top quality, and shooters just don't let his stuff get away if they own any.

Ray_Newman     I took time to look online, to find that His wife(I assume) is Ceo of the company. He was granted patents related to grinding glass into sand (short summary) and has business world wide. A long way from moulds and breech seaters. America, the land of opportunity in focus.

Those are called breech seaters. Or breech seating tools. Not breechloading tools.

A good number of machine shops that serve our sport were and still are more involved in much more profitable machine work than the items they provide for us. So no surprise that Andela's gun tools are not their main source of income, just as MVA's gun items aren't their main source of income. Most use these gun related items as filler work between their larger jobs.

Marlinguy  True. I just thought it interesting that the business would carry on successfully after his patenting methods and equipment to convert/recycle glass to sand. Apparently thanks to guidance from his CEO and wife, globally successful. The resulting "sand" must have properties that ordinary, and quite plentiful, sand does not, and that there is a need for it.
Unfortunately, it did appear that the firearm implement aspect did not carry on after his death.

The main component of common, clear glass and "ordinary sand" is silica.  Therefore, making "sand" from "glass" is likely a very useful form of recycling.

Bill  I did mention recycling as the main use, but they do list other properties that point to other uses on their website.
