advice in making a mould for a pickett rifle

Hello
I have a Philips picket rifle from about 1860. the twist rate is 1 in 40. the bore diameter is .500 and the groove diameter is .486.
Using the greenhill formula I came up with a length of  the bullet which is .938.
question I have is what diameter should I make the Mould? Should it be .486 and use a cloth patch or should I deduct the thickness of the cloth patch from the diameter of .486?
Any help would be appreciated.

Barrels bored for conical picket-style bullets may not shoot well with greased or paper-patched bullets of a more conventional style  If you could produce a dimensioned drawing, I imagine that Accuate wold be willing to make you a mould.

Does your rifle have a false muzzle, or is the muzzle turned round for a starter?

Following this. Mine is a recently acquired SW Evans of 40 cal. Mine is turned with no false muzzle so I expect to start at lands minus patch.
