I've been shooting duplex in Schuetzen rifles for some years now. I have a fair amount of experience shooting .38-55, .38-50 Rem-Hep and .32-40. Mostly shooting breech seated but muzzle loaded to a more limited extent.

I used to shoot a duplex load in my .40-65 and in my .45-70. I used R7  7.0 gr. And filled the rest of the case with cig.grade or ffgGoex accuracy was very good and clean up very easy .Cases we’re very clean. But my match days are over and it was legal in most of the matches I shot in if not I just used straight black.

I have shot in 2 monthly 40 shot offhand matches at 200 yds/m with duplexed bp. usually with R7 or 4227 at 10% max.  I still get a kick out of the bp smell smoke noise etc. I much prefer duplexed loads over the pure black as i dont have to swipe the bore between each shot only at the end of the match--I am also lazy. It seems that the accuracy and the velocity is as good as or a tad better with the duplexed loads based on differing sight settings.

Do paper patched bullets work as well duplexed as they do with straight black?
