Illinois. “Straight wall” cartridge S.S. Deer Rifl

This is a mock-up to date of a M85 Win.HiWall I’m currently building up as a Illinois . Deer rifle. Bbl. It’s a 24” #2 wt. w/ a TJ liner, 35 cal. I:18” twist chambered for the .357 Maximum case. The butt stock is borrowed from a different rifle & the scope on it here is a Lyman Alaskan w/ a Litschert 10x attachment & a dot reticle which should serve for initial load testing.
Illinois recently okayed a new regulation (Effective Jan 1, 2023 ( 60 days earlier would have been good for this year !) Allowing straight wall cartridge of adequate energy
For both handguns & S.S. Rifles usage in the regular deer seasons. Although I hadn’t shot a deer in many years it
Seemed reason enough to see what I could find in parts around the shop to assemble a working rifle without spending a fortune. If test shooting proves out O K it will probaly end up w/ a Leupold 1 1/2x -5x variable on top & maybe I’ll even stock it !
