This is actually a pretty good Video.
Myself I only use JB Bore Cleaner and I never I use a brush.
I also never let my Parker Hale cleaning patched wrapped Jag ever exit the muzzle.

Don’t need the multi step process, don’t need JB.
Boretech C4 carbon cutter….. let it soak 15-20 minutes in the neck, patch it out….done.

I've never had a carbon ring yet.  Sad  I didn't watch the video because I'm assuming my methods already work and I wouldn't want that to change.

On not pushing a patch out of the muzzle, you will be getting a double stroke of abrasive material at the muzzle so I don't do that either.

Chuck used JB bore paste a lot. I remember Bill Crane setting barrels back for him. I think Chuck wore the throats out from hard cleaning. If a target didn't suit him he'd scrub that barrel again.

For HP rifles that get copper fouled I use Sweets. Think that's what it's called. Works good. I've had the same bottle since the early seventies so I don't shoot jacketed bullets a lot. I had a Sako 22-250 that copper fouled easy. I'm rambling again..... Lips Sealed

Curious, do you have a borescope ?

You don't actually need a borescope if you look close enough you can see it very clearly with just your eyes. That is if you know exactly what it is that you are looking for.

Maybe with a large bore, not smaller diameter bbls, and you absolutely cannot tell if you get it right down to bare metal.

I have an endoscope that came from China and it shows no sign of a ring of carbon before heading into the bore- where I grow a bit confused is on up the way where I cannot determine if I'm seeing shadows or carbon. Sometimes not knowing is easier on the whole thing. If you can stop worrying, you'll shoot better.
Now, my cleaning routine is a couple of wet patches and then a few dry until there is just a tinge of grey color.
If a jacketed-bullet barrel needs to be cleaned, Sweet's 7.62 can't be beat. I once cleaned a 'shot out' barrel on a prewar Model 70 in 220 Swift with it (and some brushes) and the barrel was nearly new under all that junk the Sweet's got out. So, that ended up being a really cheap M70. Get some.

Yes I have a Teslong thanks to John.  Before the Teslong I used Chucks rigid borescope.

After watching a little more of the video I realize the man is calling any carbon in the throat a "carbon ring". My idea of a carbon ring is a hard solid ring of carbon that will not be removed with solvent on a tight patch. Something that would require chipping out or reaming out or some other drastic measure. My thought is that I don't get a carbon ring like that because I always clean my rifle at the end of a session and leave the bore wet. Then before starting a new session I push a dry patch through the bore. Also I shoot light loads when using smokeless.

Nothing drastic needed, as said the C4 soak is all thats needed. If it works on 6 PPC @ over 60,000 psi giving very hard carbon, light/moderate smokeless loads are a snap.

I've not been cleaning my .22 all summer. Hopefully I'll be able to develop a carbon ring. Should be a couple thousand rounds through it by late fall.

It was Arthur Cook the Olympic shooter was once asked how often he cleans his 22. I think he said something like... "I haven't yet but when I do I'll let you know"

I have barrels over a hundred years old that will still shoot perfect scores. I've only owned them for a few of those years. Having no idea how they were maintained/cleaned in the past. I'm not to worried about it. I think some worry to much.
