Lyman did make a 48 sight for the Stevens Ideal 44, I don't recall the designation, 48 L I think. Because It would mount on the side of the receiver it should be adaptable to a 441/2. Neal Rice used to make an adapter that mounted on the rear scope base, which eliminated having to drill mounting holes in the receiver. i used one he made for me to mount a Redfield International on a Winchester Highwall. It also positioned the sight closer to the eye, which was an improvement. Lyman also made a sight for the 417 Walnut Hill which accomplished the same thing.
