CPA Benchrest Buttstock (Who uses one?)

I'm having better results shooting my wide forend heavy barrel  33-40 free recoil.I've thought about this stock to help. I have similar parallel  buts on bolt guns but was entering how is works out on a SS? Is the height difference between the forend and butt make it stand too tall and make it awkward,?

It certainly has worked well for me. All CPA .32-20CPA & 22LR CPA. Also, had one made for a BSA Mark III RF that I should never have sold. It's still winning on the RF benchrest circuit down in FL. Some say it's ugly. I say it's beautiful!

Myself I have never shot one in the past 23+ years.
I simply just do not believe it, they were were a part of the intent of the ASSRA and the ISSA's mission statements but that is just a personal opinion.
I also do not believe this is also the way to better or to beat the old timers benchrest accomplishments.
But I also have no qualms about anyone using them and I have never felt that they also have an unfair advantage.

You'll like it; much easier to shoot off the bench than an offhand stock.

I've gotten used to schuetzen stocks on the bags but the new barrel and forend is pure bench and the cpa  stock I believe will help out.it has a sporting style it came with  for the 348 win,25 Krag  and 45-70 barrels that's ok for those but I'd like the thing to recoil straight back.

What Ray modestly neglected to mention was not only does it work well for him, but he was able to guide it to a perfect 250-10C last Friday at the Chinquapin SV event at Brushy Mtn Club here in VA.  For Ray, at least, this stock design works very well indeed.  Congrats again, Ray!

Froggie

I would never argue with success and have always been the first one to congratulate it at a match or unknowingly behind the scenes.
I just chose to take another route to achieve my own due to my own love for the traditional rifles. Their past history and a charm all of their own and that alone is what brought me into the Schuetzen and CBA competitive shooting sports. It also served me very well for also shooting the offhand matches as well as the benchrest.

In my eyes, the essence of ASSRA is sharing thoughts, theories and experiences with our fellow members. We may not always agree with each other, but the common interest creates friendships. What greater reward can there be in life?

The CPA Benchrest buttstock has always been a good companion to my .32-20 CPA rifle.

It's not pretty.  Barry Darr once compared it to a boat rudder.

yep!  I struggle just a little between the "classic" Schuetzen style rifles, and a desire to shoot better scores.

For me the bench rest butt stock is sort-of-like shooting a Miller action-ed rifle, or the short cases like the 32-20 CPA instead of a 32-40.  You will shoot better scores, but is it truly Schuetzen like it was pre-1917 when they began to fade away?

In the end, you pays your money and you make your choice...

I am waiting on my CPA M52 in 32-20 CPA.  See you all in Raton in August.

Rich

It is just that it may look out of place on a fine old single shot falling block schuetzen rifle, but right at home on a modern single shot bolt action bench rest rifle. To my eye, some of those are quite handsome, and a testament to their capabilities.
